New Zealand Rugby Museum

New Zealand Rugby Museum (326 Main Street, Palmerston North, Manawatu) – located in the town of Manawatu (a 5-hour drive south of Auckland), this museum is devoted to the well-regarded sport of Rugby – in effect, a shrine to the “All Blacks” New Zealand national rugby team. The All Blacks’ formidable track record in global rugby matches over the years has literally put New Zealand on the international map!

Along with exhibits illustrating the history of the sport in this country (including the historic final match with the South African Springboks team in 1995 – the subject of the 2009 Hollywood film “Invictus”), there is also a play area where children can play rugby.

Hours: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily. Admission: $12 (adult), $5 (children).
