Museum of Transport & Technology (805 Great North Road & Meola Road, Western Springs, Auckland 1022) — this is New Zealand’s largest transport, technology and social history museum. Spread across 40 acres, MOTAT takes visitors on an interactive journey to explore and discover the achievements that have helped shape New Zealand – from the 1800s to today. MOTAT is a rich learning environment for all ages and tells stories about New Zealand aviation, energy, communications, rail, road transport, tramways and emergency and defense.
Hours: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily. Admission: $16 (adult), $8 (child – ages 5 to 16 years, and students with ID), $40 (family – two adults and up to 4 children). Free admission to children under 5 years.
