Museum of New Zealand (55 Cable Street, Wellington Central, Wellington 6011) – located in Wellington (the country’s capital — an 8-hour drive south of Auckland), this museum (a.k.a. “Te Papa”), is New Zealand’s national museum, renowned for being bicultural, scholarly, innovative, and fun. This Museum’s success is built on its relationships with and ability to represent the country. Its collections span five areas: Art, History, Pacific, Māori, and Natural Environment. Its exhibitions are interdisciplinary and interactive, and there are dynamic events and education programmes.
